Burned Baltimore kitty on verge of new life

Gabrielle is nearly ready to go home.

Set on fire twice in Baltimore, she is almost ready to go to her new home.

Earlier this month someone in West Baltimore saw kids throwing bricks at the kitten and then she saw them pour liquid on the her. She turned away and when she turned back, the kitten was on fire. Though the kitten extinguished the flames, the kids set her on fire again.

The kitten rescuers named Gabrielle has been being treated for weeks at Spay Maryland hospital in Catonsville. Recycled Love is paying for her care. "She is very comfortable and has a healthy appetite," Karen Reese with Recycled Love says. "Dr. Sinclair is anticipating a medical release within the next few weeks.(Gabrielle's wound has diminished considerably and doctors expect her to be ready for release within the next couple of weeks. Bless her heart! Oh that story.... how can people be so cruel! Glad to hear she is getting better and is being taken care of!

By the way, we have NC State vet students and their teacher come to our area about 2-3 times a year to do a BIG spay/neuter weekend in their mobile clinic. They are coming back Halloween weekend. They do the ferals in the area. We also have another mobile clinic that comes 2-3 times a year to do friendly and owned dogs and kitties at a reduced price! Their low costs help so much!! We are very thankful for them!

Wow, those kids really need to be punished for that if you ask me. I am so glad that this kitten was rescued but honestly that story just makes me so angry that people would do something like that.

We're so happy Gabrielle will have a new...and hopefully happier...life. We hope those kids were punished to the maximum allowed!

Poor little Gabrielle! I'm glad she was rescued and is almost ready to go to a new home.

I hope the kids who did that got caught, before they hurt another defenseless cat or dog, or worse.

Oh, what a heartbreaking story. I'm glad it has a happy ending.

It's a proven fact that many violent criminals and MOST serial killers killed and tortured animals as a step up to humans.

Purrrs to that sweet kitty.
And I hope peoples are ready for what future crimes those little criminals are going to commit.

That poor kitty. We hope the evil kids got caught and punished. We can't understand though why the lady turned away when she saw them throwing bricks and pouring liquid onto her instead of yelling at the kids to leave her alone.

Little Gabriel is so lucky to have been saved and heading towards a new life. I hope those kids were caught.

There can be nothing worse than deliberately hurting an innocent animal.

It's awful how terrible humans can be but we're so glad that Gabrielle is healing and that there are wonderful people helping her

How could anyone do that to another living creature? It's so sad. But it is great news that Gabrielle will be all better and will have the chance to find a furever home.

We are all so happy here that Gabrielle will be ok and move on to a happy life...but those kids....grrrrr...

I hope they were caught before they do that sort of thing again to another sweet animal or a human.

We all (including mom) feel sick to our tummies! We're glad she survived and we pray she finds a wonderful furrever home. Maybe we should set those kids on fire and see how it feels to them!...

Poor kitty!!! We can't understand how anyone can be so cruel to a cute, helpless furry. We hope she will be taken into a loving furrever home after this ordeal.

Animal abuse leads to other horrible crimes. We must fight for tougher laws and punishment!

We really do appreciate your advice and the impurrtant fings u suppurrt. If you hadn't bonked Mom on the head, she wouldn't have tried harder to find a solution to getting the kittens their home... fraid she fell in love with them. Hard to let go. They iz doing goods in dehr noo homes now.

We also read about this on Margaaret's Old Digger. Although we are soooh glad that this baby is getting another chance...

We are more than heartbroken about
what happened to Tiger Lily in New York - have you heard about her?
She was baked to death!

I am shocked that the whole cat blogosphere is not in outrage about it.

I have a link on my blog, but you can go to In Defense of Animals which is idausa(dot)org and there is a link there to send faxes which have to be there by tomorrow.
